Global Deliberations Collaborative (GDC)
Global Deliberations Collaborative (GDC) is a professional development project with P-16 educators that promotes and develops open-minded, informed, and engaged citizenship for an inclusive and diverse democracy.
Goals:
- To equip educators, and, in turn their students, with a step-by-step deliberation process.
- To support a collaborative of educators, an ongoing professional learning community committed to further advancing the use of deliberation as an instructional practice.
- To promote an understanding of multiple perspectives, intentionally including marginalized voices, on global issues, including tradeo s and underlying values.
- To equip educators and their students with research skills to collect and critically analyze information.
- To expand the content knowledge of educators and their students to better understand global/international issues and perspectives.
2024 Hamilton Lugar School Summer Institute: Global Deliberations Collaborative
Participants will receive:
• Global Deliberations 2.0 Professional Development
• Packet with international case studies and classroom materials
• Professional Growth Points
• $200 stipend per teacher
• Travel assistance available on limited and competitive basis (email Vesna)
• Lunch
Who, when, and where?
Grade Levels: recommended for high school teachers; school of education graduate students and middle school teachers welcome.
